Below are some care tips for my Sterling Jewelry pieces To retard the tarnishing process, keep your Sterling Jewelry in a plastic zip lock bag (tightly sealed) when not in use. Store away from hot and humid areas.
D.I.Y. Tarnish Remover Line small glass bowl with piece of foil Top foil with equal parts baking soda and salt (I recommend between 1 t. and 1T. of each to start) Pour boiling water over mixture-approx.1/2 c. to 1 c. It will froth/fizz Mix to dissolve with either a plastic or wood utensil. Drop chain into hot mixture. When placing chain in mixture, pile it up, do not stretch it out, so the chain is in contact with other parts of the chain. Let sit in mixture for 5 minutes. Rinse well. Pat Dry.
Disclaimer: NEVER microwave the bowl with the foil or jewelry in it. This is NOT SAFE. Heat water separately.
DO NOT use this solution on gemstones, pearls, or sterling pieces with any antiquing or patinas. NEVER use this formula on my Calla Lily and Ginger leaf pieces or my Cat Series.
I can only vouch for the safe use of this formula on the Sterling Chains you have purchased from me. Use on other Sterling chains at your own risk. It WILL work on the Earring and Pendants from my “Silver and Beads” line, that DON’T have pearls or gemstone beads ( see my website for my “Silver and Beads “ line) The formula will not hurt the lampwork glass beads on my earrings and pendants. |
